On Tuesday, the Eagles handled Kings for their second league win of the season. The Eagles started quickly out of the gate when junior midfielder Andrew Moore beat 2 defenders and then rang a shot off the near post. The Eagles would continue to pressure the Kings keeper. It wasn't until about half through the first half when Walnut put up its first tally. Senior Frank Sunderland put Daniel Bundschuh through. Bundschuh then drew the defense to one side of the goal and then slotted it to a wide open Jo Fridstrom for a tap in. The Eagles went into half time with a 1-0 win, but were playing very inconsistent as they struggled to keep possession The second would prove to be more of the same with Eagles throwing numbers forward and out working their opponent. Senior Liam Henderson scored his first goal of the season off a deflected corner kick with a calm header from about six yards out. A few minutes later, Andrew Moore deftly redirected a long throw in over top the keeper to make it 3-0. While Walnut appeared to be cruising on the scoreboard, they left a lot to be desired for as they failed to keep possession and kill the clock. Walnut looks to keep its winning going this Saturday as they play Princeton at 12pm. The Eagles are currently 6-1--1. If we are to keep it going, we will surely have to improve on our passing of the ball. |
