Today at our meeting we rolled out our our off season strength training and futsal schedule. It is very important that we continue to get more athletic as a program. I encourage each player to be a leader by example through work ethic. I hope to see all players who plan to play soccer next year that are not in an in-season sport in the mornings getting after their goals. Those who work out will be provided a protein nutritional supplement that will help recovery and growth. Tearing down your muscles to get stronger doesn't work unless you provide your body the right nutrition to recover and grow. A simple rule for Nutrition is players need be eating 1 gram of Protein per body weight that is split into smaller meals throughout the day. Also players who are exerting a lot of work need to eat extra calories to help the growth process (between 3,000-4,000). Starting next week, we will be holding weight lifting on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will have Futsal on Mondays and Wednesdays. All sessions will be at 6am due to availability. Players will have the option to have locker and use the showers before school. Players must have a lock if they intend to use a locker. This summer we will begin open field and conditionings will be begin in June. In June we will have a preseason conditioning test of 1.5 miles with the goal being 9 mins. In July, we will have two preseason tournaments along with conditioning and HS camp. There will be another conditioning test in July of 2 miles with the goal being 12mins. Exact dates are not yet available due to our turf being resurfaced, but official tryouts will be August 1st. Be sure to see our calendar for more info and details about upcoming dates: http://www.walnuthillssoccer.org/team-schedules/calendar Thanks and we look forward to a great 2016! Coach Rothwell |
