Walnut comes up short vs Beavers

posted Oct 8, 2012, 7:58 AM by Eric Rothwell
On Senior day,  the Eagles battled the #9 Beavers in a physical hard fought match.  The first half was back and forth with Beavercreek grabbing the winner on poor clearance.   Walnut struggled to break down the Beavercreek's back 5.   In the first half senior Adam Brown had a chance go high after a long ball into the box.

In the second half, Walnut took control of the match and but struggled to get a clear chance inside the 18 with all the congestion.  There were several crosses and shots that were either blocked or pushed wide.  The best chance came when Andrew Moore won a free kick on the edge of the box.  Adam Brown took the free kick quickly, but the Beavercreek keeper parried it out of the corner.  Senior Harrison Hildebrandt did a great job in stifling Beavercreek's counter attack throughout the game.

The loss brings the Eagles to 9-3-2.  Walnut faces rival Turpin on Tuesday in a match in an ECC championship match.  With a win or a tie the Eagles solely claim first place in the ECC.  A win by Turpin makes it a 3 way tie for first in the ECC.

Jv Eagles played their hearts out vs the JV Beavers but fell 1-0.  They had a goal disallowed and loads of chances, but couldn't capitalize.   They are 11-2-1 on the season.
