On Monday, Boys soccer defeated Moeller 2-0 in the sectional finals.   The Eagles got off to a fast start thanks to their fans.  About 5 minutes into the game, Daniel Bundschuh drove the ball into the box off a free kick.  Sam Warren attacked the ball with a fierce header from 12 yards for the score.  Walnut continued to press for the next 10 minutes, but couldn't grab another one.  Moeller came into the game and had several chances from free kicks.  All night, the Walnut defence led by goalkeeper Logan Wiedmann and defenders Adam Cooper, Sam Warren, and Robby Perry did a stellar job of winning the ball out of the air.   Moeller dumped every free kick into the box, only for the eagles to clear it away.    You can see highlights here.

At the start of the second half, the score was still 1-0.   Ten minutes in the second half, Jess Carr headed home a corner kick from Bundschuh to make it 2-0.   From there Moeller continued to push and Walnut's defense denied them.  The win gave the Eagles their 2nd straight sectional championship.

This Thursday, Walnut HIlls will play Lakota East at Madeira High School 7pm.  Earlier this season, Walnut Hills defeated Lakota East 4-0 on early Saturday afternoon.    In this previous meeting, Walnut jumped to an extremely early lead  and never looked back.  The game promises to be much closer with so much on the line.  It should be an exciting game with several players playing on the same club team and featuring the Player of the Year in the GMC (Mohammed Elwardi) and the Player of the Year in the ECC (Daniel Bundschuh).
